American Goldfinches are Building their Nests

American Goldfinches are the latest backyard birds to build their nests. They nest in late June and July when the milkweed, thistle, and other plants are in seed. The goldfinches use the fibrous seeds to build their nests and feed their young. I enjoy watching them fly from my milkweed plants with beaks full of soft nesting material.
